Whether or not my topic is worthy of a session, or just an announcement at lunch is up to you.
The reason for my attendance share with others the potential disaster that now confronts New Mexico citizens in the loss of one of the most historic sites left in the entire Southwest…. the remaining 19th century buildings at old Fort Wingate, just east of Gallup, NM. Also to be condemned are the 1920s-30s BIA school buildings. How do we, just a small group of concerned citizens, go about drumming up interest in preserving this important, historic site?? I am hoping that in attending this THATCamp, I would meet historians, fund-raisers, program developers, historic preservationists, etc. that could help us bring this project to a successful conclusion. HELP!
